Front Range Village Becomes Climate Wise Partner
 

Northern Colorado’s Largest Shopping Center is among 120 Elite Local Companies Focused on Reducing Greenhouse Gases

(Fort Collins, Colo.) — Front Range Village, northern Colorado’s largest shopping destination, today announced that it has been chosen as a Climate Wise partner. Climate Wise is a voluntary, City of Fort Collins-run program dedicated to helping local business and the environment.
 
Through the partnership, Front Range Village will build upon its already environmentally-friendly practices by participating in Climate Wise programs designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through waste reduction, energy savings, alternate transportation, water conservation, and practicing pollution prevention.
 
Front Range Village was built and is managed with environmental sensitivity top of mind. Just a few steps the property has taken include:

• Property-Wide Recycling: All retailers are encouraged to recycle. Front Range Village’s recycling dumpsters and compactors allow for commingling, which means that glass, paper, cardboard, and plastic can be included in one dumpster for added convenience.
 
• Energy Efficient Lighting: Front Range Village’s parking lot lighting uses photo-eye technology that allows the parking lot to be lit only when necessary. The light poles also are direct lit, which means that they light only the area necessary.
 
• Green Building Practices: The property is working to help the City of Fort Collins achieve some of its Energy Star goals by assisting new Front Range Village tenants with green techniques as they build out their locations.
 
• Environmentally Friendly Landscaping: Landscaping throughout the property was designed with water-conservation as a priority. There is very little lawn, and mostly ornamental grasses and other low-water usage plants and bushes.
 
• Transportation Alternatives: Front Range Village is a PassFort company which allows employees to use bus transportation and reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT). As a PassFort company, employees can purchase yearly TransFort passes for $70, which is more than half the normal rate.
 
In addition, Front Range Village’s convenient location near large neighborhoods and places of business enables more people to bike and walk to the center. This reduces traffic congestion and pollution while improving health and quality of life. People can do most of their shopping in one location and have many great dining choices onsite.
